The UN representative and director of the UN Counter-Terrorism Centre Dr. Jehangir Khan gave a speech in the opening session of Salam Center’s international conference.

He started by congratulating Egypt’s Dar al-Ifta on the launch of Salam Center for Extremism Studies and commending the Center’s vision and efforts to enhance international cooperation on countering violent extremism.

Dr. Khan highlighted Egypt’s important role in driving international attention and action toward proactive countering terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.

“Religious leaders play a critical role in grounding peaceful and humanitarian values that are inherent in their theologies,” Khan said.
