The Grand Mufti receives a delegation from the Kurdistan region of Iraq to promote cooperation in countering extremism

Dr. Shawki Allam, the Grand Mufti of Egypt, received in his office this afternoon a delegation from the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs of the Kurdistan region of Iraq.

During the meeting, Dr. Allam stressed that Dar al-Ifta has countered extremist groups in the various media outlets. Dr. Allam also explained Dar al-Ifta’s efforts to combat extremism and terrorism through the establishment of a fatwa monitoring observatory to respond to aberrant fatwas and deconstruct deviant ideologies, an e-magazine in English “Insight” in response to QSIS’ “Dabiq” magazine and another in Arabic in addition to participating in numerous international conferences and forums on extremism. He added that Dar al-Ifta is prepared to provide all forms of support to counter extremist ideologies.

The delegation of the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs of the Kurdistan region of Iraq confirmed that the Dar al-Ifta occupies a special place in the hearts of all Iraqis and in the Kurdistan region of Iraq. The delegation added that Iraq had suffered from attacks by extremists which were not limited only to non-Muslims, but targeted Muslims and others who went against the ideology of QSIS, and QSIS kills, immolates and displaces of thousands of Iraqis every day.
