Chapter 26 The excellence of ''The mother of the book'' (Surat al-fatiha, the first chapter of Quran)

Abu Hurayrah reported that he heard the prophet (PBUH) say: Allah most exalted has said: 'I have divided prayer (Salat) between myself and my servant, and My servant will receive what he asks. When the servant says: Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the universe,(Alhamdo lillah rabb al'almin) Allah the Most High says: My servant has praised Me. And when he (the servant) says: The Most Compassionate, the Merciful (Alrahman alrahim), Allah the Most High says: My servant has lauded Me. And when he (the servant) says: Master of the Day of Judgment (Maliki youm 'ddin), He remarks: My servant has glorified Me. and sometimes He would say: My servant entrusted (his affairs) to Me. And when he (the worshipper) says: Thee do we worship and of Thee do we ask help (Iyak naa'bedu w iyaka nasta'ein), He (Allah) says: This is between Me and My servant, and My servant will receive what he asks for. Then, when he (the worshipper) says: Guide us to the straight path, the path of those to whom Thou hast been Gracious not of those who have incurred Thy displeasure, nor of those who have gone astray (Ihdna alserata almostaqim, serata allazena an'amta alyhim, ghayri-lmaghdoub alayhim wala aldalin), He (Allah) says: This is for My servant, and My servant will receive what he asks for.

Abu Sa'id ibn al-Mu'alla said: ''Once I was praying in the mosque when the messenger of Allah (PBUH) called me, so I did not answer him. Then I came to him and said: 'O messenger of Allah, I was praying'. He replied: 'Has not Allah said, answer the call of Allah and of the messenger when he summons you?' then he said, 'before you leave this mosque I will surely tell you of a surah which is the mightiest surah if the Quran.

He then grasped my hand. Later, when we wanted to leave the mosque, I said: 'O messenger of Allah, you said, I will surely tell you of a Surah which is the mightiest Surah of the Quran'. {The prophet (PBUH)} told me, it is: All praise if for Allah, lord of the universe (Alhamdulellah Rab Al-almin), the seven oft-repeated {verses}, by the Glorious Quran that has been granted to me'.''
