Dr. Shawqy Allam, the Grand Mufti of Egypt, was keen to cast his vote in the early minutes of the presidential elections at Abdul Aziz Jawish School in Nasr city.

Out of their respect for him, the great number of people standing in line at the polling station allowed His Eminence to enter before them but he insisted on standing in line like the rest of the citizens.

After casting his vote, the grand mufti emphasized that Egypt is approaching a new stage in its history which requires unity, cooperation and joint endeavors to achieve prosperity.

The grand mufti added that the Egyptian people exercise their conscience without tutelage from anyone, have only the interest of their country in mind and will defeat all of those who conspire against their future and nationalism. He stressed that both the international press and satellite channels are covering this national Egyptian epic.

He further stressed that with their positive participation, the Egyptian people will defeat all of those who exploit religion and use Islamic texts to achieve personal gains.

The grand mufti called upon all Egyptians to accept the election results and hoped that the coming president will be a president for all Egyptians and deliver on all his electoral promises.
