The advisor to the Grand Mufti of Egypt denies that Dar al-Ifta issued a fatwa on praying in drama

Dr. Ibrahim Negm, advisor to the Grand Mufti of Egypt, denied a story entitled “The new Mufti’s first fatwa” published in some websites and in the media alleging that Dar al-Ifta issued a fatwa stating that the actors who pretend to pray in drama are sinful and irresponsible.

Dr. Ibrahim Negm stressed that Dar al-Ifta did not issue any fatwa on this matter, neither by Dr. Shawqi Allam, the current Grand Mufti, or by his predecessor, Dr. Ali Goma during his tenure as Grand Mufti of Egypt. He further said that the story published by this website is false.

The Grand Mufti’s advisor called upon the media to publish accurate reports and to act professionally and objectively to avoid fomenting confusion in the Egyptian society during a period when we are in most need of stability at all levels.
