Dr. Ibrahim Negm –the advisor to the Grand Mufti of Egypt- stated that Dar al-Ifta’ has developed a comprehensive plan in preparation for the advent of the blessed month of Ramadan. This plan involves implementing multiple procedures for interaction with Muslims through different means of communication during the blessed month.

He pointed out that Dar al-Ifta’ organizes a public official celebration on Friday’s eve in the main celebration hall of Al-Azhar’s Conference Center, Nasr city, Cairo, on the occasion of sighting the new crescent of blessed Ramadan.

This celebration will be attended by Dr. Jalal al-Said –the governor of Cairo- on behalf of the president of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Dr. Ahmad al-Tayyib –the Grand Sheikh of Azhar, the ministers of Justice and Religious Endowments, members of the Council of Senior Scholars and members of Islamic Research Assembly, the Former Grand Mufti, the head of al-Ashraf [descendants of the Prophet], the head of the Supreme Council for Sufi Orders, considerable number of political and executive leaderships and ambassadors of Arab and Islamic countries.

Dr. Negm further added that Dar al-Ifta’ will set up a hotline during the month of Ramadan to respond to all questions related to both fasting and Ramadan.

He added further that His eminence the Grand Mufti of Egypt will present a daily radio show which will be broadcasted by al-Qur`an al-Kareem Radio during Ramadan focused on this blessed month and rulings related to it. Furthermore, the Grand Mufti will write a series of articles for a number of Egyptian newspapers and websites.

The advisor to the Grand Mufti will present the first daily TV show named “Gifted Mercy” in English which will be broadcasted by the Egyptian satellite channel directed to Europe and America. This is among the Dar’s endeavors to spread the true essence of Islam, moderation and communicating with Islamic communities there especially during the blessed month.

Furthermore; scholars of Dar al-Ifta’ will appear in a number of live TV shows to answer the questions asked by the viewers related to Ramadan and its rulings.

Finally; Dr. Negm stated that the official website of Dar al-Ifta’ will provide timings for Imsak and Iftar in addition to frequently asked questions related to both fasting and Ramadan.
