The advisor of the grand Mufti of Egypt to the German TV:
- The international community should not intervene in our national affairs and we are able to manage our crises internally.
- Egypt was a symbol for coexistence for many centuries and the attempts being exerted to drag it to civil war will end in vain.
- What we witness in Egypt right now is a tension resulted from sharp political conflict and not a struggle for Islamic identity.
Dr. Ibrahim Negm, the advisor of the Grand Mufti, confirmed that Dar al Iftaa condemns all forms of violence and the bloodshed of the innocent people that occurred over the past few days, indicating that bloodshed never resolves any crisis.
"The international community should not intervene in our affairs. Egyptians are able to manage their own crises internally and find a way out the same way they did in many crises throughout Egypt's history", Dr. Negm stated in his interview this afternoon with the German TV.
Dr. Negm said that Egypt was and will be a symbol for coexistence all over centuries by the grace of God, confirming that all the attempts exerted to drag it to a civil war will end in vain.
During the interview, the advisor of the Grand Mufti, stated that the current crisis in Egypt is nothing but a tension resulting from a sharp political conflict and not an Islamic identity conflict, because the Egyptian people enjoy innate sense of religiosity.
Dr. Negm asserted that the noble Azhar and its affiliated institutions including Dar al-Ifta al-Missiriyah (Egyptian house for fatwa) and Ministry of Endowments represent a moderate reference to understand moderate Islam. Dr. Negm likewise stressed that al-Azhar with all its resources will ever remain the refuge and shield that all Egyptians resort to in the times of crises.
