Egypt’s Mufti receives a delegation from Maldives Republic, discusses promoting mutual religious cooperation

Egypt’s Grand Mufti, Dr. Shawki Allam, received a high-level delegation from the Maldives Republic headed by His Eminence Ali Zahir, Chief of Staff at the President’s Office, Dr. Ahmed Zahir Ali, Minister of Islamic Affairs and Dr. ‘Aisha Ali, Minister of Education, to discuss the means of promoting mutual religious cooperation.
During the meeting, Dr. Allam reviewed the efforts of Egypt’s Dar Al-Ifta to combat extremist ideologies and provide Imams with the necessary scholarly training to engage in their communities and face the currents of Islamophobia and hate speech.
From his part, His Eminence Ali Zahir praised Egypt’s Dar Al-Ifta efforts in serving Muslims worldwide, expressed his government’s interest in cooperating with and benefiting from the Dar’s expertise, and extended an official invitation to the Grand Mufti to visit the Maldives Republic to implement the strategies of mutual religious and scholarly cooperation.
