Egypt’s Mufti, members of UK House of Lords, hold virtual meeting for first time

Egypt’s Grand Mufti, Dr. Shawki Allam met members of the House of Lords of the United Kingdom for first time. Being the first of its kind, the meeting was held via Zoom due to Covid-19 pandemic on Thursday, June 17, 2021, with participation of 200 members of UK House of Lords and Commons, global media figures, officials and stakeholders.
Dr. Allam confirmed in his word that Muslim scholars have shouldered the responsibility of promoting the sound image and teachings of Islam, with a view to provide the world with a better understanding of the religion. This understating helps us all to live in peace, stability and mutual cooperation.
The meeting covered many timely topics including combating radicalization and terrorism, the role of Fatwa in stabilizing societies, utilizing modern technology in promoting sound teachings of religions and exchanging experts.
