Burying a five month-old miscarried fetus without holding the funeral prayer

If miscarriage takes place before the fetus has completed four months, it need not be washed before burial as there is no need to pray the funeral prayer over it. But if the fetus has completed four months and showed signs of life, then it is treated in the same way as a person would be treated when he dies i.e. it should be washed, prepared for burial, and the funeral prayer should be offered for it as well.
As this was a miscarriage after a five-month pregnancy and the fetus showed clear signs of life, someone should have offered the funeral prayer for it before burial, in the same way as it is offered for any deceased person. The situation however can be corrected by the father who may offer this prayer even though he is in a different country. This is all that may be required in such a situation.
