Senior Advisor to Grand Mufti to Represent Egypt at BRICS Religious Leaders’ Summit in Brazil

Dr. Ibrahim Negm, Senior Advisor to the Grand Mufti of Egypt and Secretary-General of the General Secretariat for Fatwa Authorities Worldwide, will take part in the BRICS Religious Leaders’ Meeting, to be held on September 4–5, 2025, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He will attend on behalf of His Eminence Dr. Nazir Mohammed Ayyad, the Grand Mufti of Egypt.
This participation comes in response to an official invitation extended to the Grand Mufti by the Religious Administration of Muslims of the Russian Federation, to join the international conference entitled “The Spiritual Silk Road: The Role of Moral Values in Bringing Peoples and Continents Closer Together.” The event is being organized in cooperation with Mohamed Bin Zayed University for Humanities in the United Arab Emirates.
The conference will explore the vital role of spiritual and ethical values in advancing development, safeguarding cultural and civilizational identity, and promoting tolerance, moderation, and peaceful coexistence across societies.
Dr. Negm emphasized that the participation of Egypt’s Dar al-Ifta and the General Secretariat reflects Egypt’s leading role in fostering interfaith and intercultural dialogue, showcasing Al-Azhar model of moderation, and contributing to global initiatives that strengthen bridges between civilizations. He further affirmed that Egyptian religious institutions remain dedicated to countering extremism and hate speech with universal values of tolerance, mutual respect, and peace—values that support international stability and sustainable development.
