Senior Advisor to Egypt's Mufti conducts lecture at Singapore's University
Dr. Ibrahim Negm, Senior Advisor to Egypt's Mufti, Secretary-General of the General Secretariat for Fatwa Authorities Worldwide, delivered a lecture in presence of professors and students at the University of Singapore, on the sidelines of his visit to Singapore accompanying the Grand Mufti on his official visit that begins today.
"Egypt's Dar Al-Ifta is the authoritative voice for issuing fatwas in Egypt and the Islamic world. It issues about one and a half million fatwas each year in 12 different languages, with a view to reach out to Muslims worldwide and build bridges of communication," Dr. Negm added.
He pointed out that Dar Al-Ifta has also benefited from the use of modern technology applications to receive and answer questions. The latest of these applications is "Fatwa Pro," which serves Muslims in the West, receives their questions from various countries worldwide, and answers them in different languages, taking into account the social contexts of the countries from which the questions come.
Dr. Negm confirmed that Dar Al-Ifta is also keen to cooperate with all Fatwa Institutions worldwide. To achieve this, it established in 2015 The General Secretariat for Fatwa Authorities Worldwide serving as an umbrella organization for muftis from more than 90 countries. They collaborate to find solutions to the challenges we face and the developments of the era.
