Muslim–Christian Dialogue on the Table at Egypt’s Dar al-Ifta

The Grand Mufti of Egypt and President of the General Secretariat for Fatwa Authorities Worldwide, Dr. Nazir Mohammed Ayyad, received the delegation of the Steering Committee of the Network of Centers for Christian-Muslim Relations (NCCMR), ed by Archbishop Dr. Mounir Hanna, Honorary Archbishop of the Episcopal Church and Director of the Christian-Islamic Center for Understanding and Partnership in Egypt, and Dr. Wageeh Mikhail, Director of the NCCMR, to discuss enhancing cooperation in dialogue and peace building.

The meeting highlighted Dar Al-Ifta’s specialized centers and their efforts to promote coexistence, counter extremism, and foster informed understanding. The delegation commended the role of Al-Azhar and Dar Al-Ifta in upholding moderation, and emphasized the network’s ambition—with its 26 centers across 19 countries—to strengthen partnerships in initiatives that advance interfaith dialogue and global peace.
