Egypt's Mufti Highlights Imam Al-Maturidi's Legacy as a Model of Moderation and Civilizational Renewal
Speaking at the International Conference of the Imam Al-Maturidi Heritage Center in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, His Eminence Prof. Dr. Nazir Mohamed Ayyad, Grand Mufti of Egypt and President of the General Secretariat for Fatwa Authorities Worldwide, affirmed that Imam Al-Maturidi's legacy offers a balanced intellectual framework that harmonizes reason and revelation while promoting moderation, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence.
Dr.Ayyad emphasized that the unity of the Muslim Ummah is a cornerstone of civilizational progress and that reason, guided by divine revelation, is essential for understanding Islamic teachings and realizing the higher objectives of Sharia. He also highlighted the Maturidi school's enduring role in countering extremism, rejecting takfir, and fostering dialogue, reaffirming Egypt's Dar al-Ifta's commitment to expanding cooperation with religious and academic institutions in support of moderate Islamic thought and the service of humanity.
