The Grand Mufti of Egypt, Dr. Shawqi Allam, received today a delegation from the Qatari Ministry of culture headed by Dr. Hamad Ibn Abdul Aziz Al-Qawari, the Minister of Culture, Arts, and Heritage who congratulated him on the occasion of his appointment as Grand Mufti of Egypt.

During his meeting with the Grand Mufti of Egypt, the Qatari minister stressed that Dr. Shawqi was not merely the mufti of Egypt, but the mufti Egypt and the Arab and Muslim world considering that Egypt represents the heart of Arabs and Islam.

The Qatari minister said, “The confidence of the panel of senior scholars who voted for Dr. Shawqi Allam is justified and we are aware of the extent of the responsibility he bears and we wish him success.”

At the end of the meeting, the Grand Mufti gifted the Qatari delegation with a book comprising the fatwas issued by Dar al-Ifta since its establishment in 1895 CE.
