The Grand Mufti to the Governor of Cairo: Egypt needs patience, work, and the cooperation of all people

Prof. Dr. Shawki Allam, the Grand Mufti of Egypt, received in his office this morning Dr. Osama Kamal, Governor Cairo, who congratulated his eminence on the occasion of his appointment in his new post.

During the meeting, the Governor of Cairo said that the method of selecting the grand mufti by election represents a qualitative leap in the history of the Egyptian religious establishment.

The governor expressed his hopes for further progress, success, and prosperity for Dar al-Ifta al-Misriyyah during Dr. Allam’s tenure as grand mufti and that Dar al-ifta contributes to reducing  the phenomenon of fatwa chaos and the issuance of fatwas by non-specialists issuing fatwa on satellite TV.

Dr. Shawki Allam welcomed the Governor of Cairo, and praised his efforts to develop the governorate.

His Eminence said, "Egypt is undergoing an important phase in its history that needs the cooperation of all its sons as well as cooperation with official institutions to emerge from the crisis we are going through." He stressed that Egypt will overcome this transitional phase, but we need patience, cooperation, knowledge and action.

The Governor of Cairo presented the Grand Mufti with the shield of Cairo Governorate, wishing him success in his mission.
