There is no American conspiracy against Egypt and the American administration encourages Americans to fly to Egypt for tourism.
During his meeting with Dr. Shawky Allam, the Grand Mufti of Egypt, U. S Embassy Deputy Chief of Mission, His Excellency Mark Sievers, denied any American conspiracy against Egypt and said that the American administration and congress appreciate Egypt’s regional and international role.
He added that all the members of the US congressional and senatorial delegations which have recently visited Egypt said that what had transpired in Egypt was not a coup and that the military protected the will of the people. He further said that the American administration is looking forward to strong relations with Egypt in the coming period. Mr. Sievers said that the American administration did not issue any warning to its citizens against traveling to Egypt. “We encourage the arrival of American tourists to Egypt, “he said. “We understand the importance of tourism to the Egyptian economy,” he added. He expressed his appreciation for Dar al-Ifta’s role in confronting violent and infidelizing fatwas and its efforts to communicate with the world after 30 June 2013.
Dr. Shawky Allam said that each day brings Egypt closer to stability and that the ratification of the new constitution was an important and crucial stage in the life of Egyptians. He said that the heavy turnout for the constitutional referendum was a true expression of the will of the Egyptian people and their desire for stability, especially since the new constitution approved unprecedented rights of expression, demonstration, and the press. He further said that Egyptians want Americans to understand the events occurring in Egypt objectively and affirmed that the Egyptian army played a national role in protecting the country and did not intervene in politics.
Dr. Allam added that Dar al-Ifta seeks to achieve societal stability through its role and express the sound understanding of Islam through its methodology.
