The Irish Times publishes an article by the Grand Mufti about the means of confronting extremism

In the frame work of the intensive international campaign launched by the Grand Mufti of Egypt Dr. Shawki Allam for correcting the distorted image of Islam in international newspapers, the Irish newspaper “Irish Times” published an article by the Grand Mufti of Egypt in which he emphasized that reducing Islam to slitting throats, burning people, oppressing women and persecuting religious minorities in the name of Islam blatantly contradict Islamic law and violate the teachings of Prophet Mohammed who is the role model of mercy and co-existence.

Dr. Allam confirmed that the world is sorely in need of such lessons which represent the authentic teachings of the Quran. It is important to separate these noble messages from those that are bandied about by those who have no competencies in religious interpretation and Quranic hermeneutics.

He said: “It is important for us at this time to stand together to save the world and rid it of extremism and prevent more bloodshed,” adding that the only way to uproot radical ideologies is by consolidating and disseminating the correct ideology of Islam.
