The Kurdish delegation confirms its adoption to the Azhari moderate approach in religious learning and its help in confronting extremism

Dr. Shawky Allam, the Grand Mufti of Egypt, received a Kurdish delegation yesterday afternoon in his office at Dar al-Ifta`. The purpose of the visit was to search for means of religious cooperation between Dar al-Ifta` and Kurdish religious scholars.

During the meeting, the grand mufti said that Dar al-Ifta` is prepared to fully cooperate with Kurdish religious scholars and give them the necessary support.

The head of the Union said that Kurdish religious scholars respect Azhari scholars and that they rely on the religious edicts of Dar al-Ifta` al-Misriyyah due to their favorable reception both in Egypt and the Islamic world at large. He added that Kurdish scholars follow the Azhari moderate methodology and that this has greatly helped them in confronting extremism and terrorism.

Dr. Muhammed Wesam Khidr, Director of the Written Fatwa Department at Dar al-Ifta` al-Misriyyah, who was present at the meeting said that the visit of the Kurdish delegation cements the strong relations between the scholars of Kurdistan and Egypt. He added that scholars following the moderate approach cooperate to spread true Islam.
