In the midst of distortion campaigns that Islam is subject to in the western media, many international newspapers have paid attention to the international campaign that Egypt's Grand Mufti, Dr. Shawky Allam, is pursuing to reveal the true teachings of Islam. The Mufti's campaign included publishing opinion articles in international newspapers on combating radical extremists, the latest of which was in the Canadian Ontarioherlad.

In his article, Dr. Allam staunchly confirmed that all religions regard the sanctity of human life as one of its highest values, and Islam is no exception. God made this unequivocal in the Qur’an as He emphasized the gravity of the universal prohibition against murder, stating that when a person takes even one life, “it is as if he has killed all mankind.”

Dr. Allam stated that we, in fact, are in an ideological war against radical extremists who use terror as a weapon to achieve their goals of disrupting global stability and the conscience of the peaceful world. "These terrorists are not Muslim activists but criminals who have been fed a mistaken interpretation of the Qur’an and Sunnah, the teachings and practices of the Prophet Muhammed", he illustrated in his article.

The Grand Mufti called upon the international community to stand up together in the face of extremism, "the time is upon us to take up the challenge of ridding the world of radicalization to save our future from further bloodshed and victims’ families from further sorrow", he concluded.
