Senior Advisor to Egypt's Mufti, Secretary General for the General Secretariat for Fatwa Authorities Worldwide, Dr. Ibrahim Negm, delivered keynote remarks at Baku's International Conference on Islamophobia.

The conference is held under the auspices of Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev, from 15 to 16 March.

Dr. Negm noted that western media holds a great responsibility to alienate extremist discourse and make a room for moderate scholars' voices. He highlighted Egypt's Dar al-Ifta's willingness to globally contribute to promoting the truthful image of Islam.

"Mercy and respect toward the beliefs of others are main features of the Prophetic application of the Qur'an," Dr. Negm added.
