Dr. Nazir Mohammed Ayyad, Grand Mufti of Egypt and President of the General Secretariat for Fatwa Authorities Worldwide, met with Sheikh Salah Magiyev, Mufti of Chechnya and Presidential Advisor for Religious Affairs, at Dar Al-Ifta in Cairo to discuss enhancing cooperation in fatwa issuance, mufti training, scholarly exchange, and promoting religious pluralism and peaceful coexistence while combating Islamophobia.

Dr. Ayyad highlighted the historic ties between Egypt and Chechnya, Dar Al-Ifta’s efforts to train muftis in addressing contemporary issues, and its specialized centers—focused on extremism studies, coexistence jurisprudence, and interfaith dialogue—that promote moderate, informed, and inclusive religious discourse.

He also noted the existing cooperation agreement with Chechnya and emphasized the continuation of training Chechen muftis and students studying at Al-Azhar. From his part, Sheikh Magiyev expressed his appreciation for Dar Al-Ifta’s work in fostering tolerance and moderation, underlined the importance of renewing and expanding the cooperation agreement, and expressed hope for broader collaboration in research and scholarly translation.
