Dr. Shawqi Allam, the Grand Mufti of Egypt, received in his office today a Philippine religious delegation. The meeting comes to seek the means of promoting cooperation between Dar al-Ifta al-Misriyyah and its counterpart in the Philippines on the issue of reproductive health and family relations.

Dr. Shawqi said that Islam seeks to protect family relations and the welfare of spouses and that domestic violence and all forms of violence against women contradict the principles of Islamic law.

Dr. Shawqi added that Dar al-Ifta al-Misriyyah has organized a training course for couples who intend to get married to introduce them to the skills for successful marriages and to eliminate the problem of divorce and its related problems
