The Grand Mufti of Egypt during his meeting with the State Council delegation: For justice to prevail independent judiciary is mandatory


The Grand Mufti of Egypt, Dr. Shawqi Allam, met with a delegation from the State Council headed by the head of the Council, justice Gabriel Gad Abdel Al-Malek. The delegation visited Dr. Allam to congratulate him for taking the helm of his new post.

The delegation wished Dr. Allam success  in his new post and greater development and progress for Dar al-Ifta both locally and internationally. Furthermore, the delegation praised Dar al-Ifta’s endeavors towards disseminating moderate Islam and countering fatwa chaos and deviant and rigorous opinions.

During the meeting, Dr. Allam stressed the important role of the judiciary in the society especially during this critical time. He also stressed the importance of an independent judiciary and of creating the suitable atmosphere especially when reviewing cases of public concern.

He mentioned that justice is the basis of governance and it is the judiciary’s role to uphold justice in Egypt. He stressed that justice is one of the pillars of stability.

 Dr. Mohammed Mihanna, the foreign relations advisor to Sheikh al-Azhar, and justice Mohammed Abdul Salam, the legal advisor to Sheikh al-Azhar were present at the meeting.
