The Grand Mufti of Egypt met with Red Cross and Red Crescent international delegation and urged them to increase their relief efforts towards Muslims in Burma
Dr. Shawqy Allam-the grand mufti of Egypt- received a delegation from the Red Cross in his office lead by Tierry Rio –the head of Red Cross delegation in Egypt, Tamer al-Maghraby the advisor and researcher and Usama Basel the cooperation representative.
The meeting discussed the efforts of the international committee of the Red Cross and its relief efforts in many parts of the world.
The mufti requested the Red Cross committee to increase their relief efforts towards Muslims in Burma in order to alleviate their suffering because they face persecution, killing and oppression on daily basis.
He added: humanitarian is a matter encouraged by Islamic law and highly praised by Islam because it involves the interest of the people.
The grand mufti confirmed his complete support and appraisal for the efforts exerted by the international committee of the Red Cross and Red Crescent.
Tierry Rio the head of Red Cross delegation in Egypt –emphasized that red Cross has been operating in Egypt since 60 years ago. He pointed out that the international committee aids all the needy from different countries apart from their religion, race or gender.
He praised the efforts exerted by Dar al-ifta’ and the grand mufti in urging humanitarian and relief efforts.
