Dar al-Ifta` embarks upon an initiative to confront infidelizing and extremist thoughts
Dr. Shawky Allam, the Grand Mufti of Egypt, held an expanded meeting this morning at Dar al-Ifta` with the shari'ah researchers to outline the framework for the initiative he launched yesterday during the press conference.
Dr. Ibrahim Negm, Advisor to the Grand Mufti, confirmed that Dar al-Ifta` is undertaking the duty of the time by expounding Shari’ah rulings and the stance of true Islam towards destructive and terrorist acts committed in Egypt, and by confronting these extremist thoughts with a sound and strong methodology. He added that, as part of the initiative, a monitoring entity will be established at Dar al-Ifta` to monitor all takfiri (infidelizing) fatwas and articles around the clock. Moreover, the grand mufti will write a weekly article to refute takfiri allegations.
Dr. Negm added that fatwa trustees at Dar al-Ifta will prepare responses [to such allegations] that will be issued on a regular basis. They will include an in-depth analysis of the delusions of the takfiri ideology to raise people's awareness. All of this scholarly output will be sent to the Ministries of Religious Endowments and Education and all research and media outlets to protect all the segments of society against the malice of terrorism.
