In a press statement released on Sunday morning, Dr. Shawky Allam, the Grand Mufti of Egypt, extended his felicitations to the Egyptian people on the success of the constitutional referendum. He considered this success an important step towards stability and development.

The Grand Mufti expressed his happiness upon the huge turnout and great support of the new constitution, which evidently shows the people’s support for this framework that will regulate state bodies and society.

"'It is certain that this step will promote future stability and confidence in Egypt, strengthen its regional and international status and achieve stability, development and prosperity for Egyptians", the Grand Mufti said. Finally, the Grand Mufti called upon Egyptians and all factions of society to unite and cooperate, thereby fulfilling the present and future interests and hopes of all citizens.
