During his meeting with Dr. Jerry Van Dyke- Advisor to the Council of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Ibrahim Negm, Advisor to the Grand Mufti of Egypt, stressed that terrorist operations that have occurred in Egypt over the past months will not stop Egyptians from moving ahead, a phase that started with the ratification of the new constitution.

He further said that Dar al-Iftaa has started to monitor infidelizing ideologies and fatwas motivating violence, and refutes them with a scholarly approach.

Negm emphasized that Egyptians reject all terrorist operations that seek to create national instability. He added that transitional periods in the history of all countries involved some challenges and unrest that quickly dissipated after they achieved economic and political stability.

He further said that comprehensive development is the real key towards eliminating ideological extremism and that job opportunities and the availability of life necessities enable the society to curb extremist ideologies.

Negm emphasized that the religious institutions of Egypt, the Azhar, Dar al-Ifta` and the Ministry of Religious Endowments convey the message of Islam while preserving their identities despite rapid developments. Moreover, Dar al-Ifta` is committed to implementing the moderate Islamic approach which reflects the tolerant and moderate nature of Islam.
