World newspapers highlight the Grand Mufti’s statements about ISIS
Foreign media devoted considerable attention to the statements of His Eminence Dr. Shawky Allam, the Grand Mufti of Egypt, about the terrorist group ISIS which he described as “blood thirsty extremist groups” which are a danger to Islam.
.
Reuters mentioned that the Grand Mufti of Egypt said, “The actions of ISIS and other terrorist groups pose a danger to Islam and Muslims and distort its image. They shed blood and spread corruption on earth, weakening nations and giving the opportunity to others to destroy us and intervene in our affairs under the pretext of combating terrorism.”
The Huffington Post and other newspapers quoted the Grand Mufti’s words describing the blatant mistake of designating a terrorist group like ISIS as the “Islamic state” because it violates all the Islamic values, the higher objectives of Islamic law as well as universal values shared by all mankind.
The British newspaper, Daily Mail , quoted the grand mufti as saying that confronting terrorism and extremism requires international and regional cooperation on all levels, especially since ISIS distorts the image of Islam around the globe.
