The British Ambassador praises Dar al-Iftaa’s efforts in renewing the religious discourse and combatting destructive methodologies

Dr. Shawki Allam, the Grand Mufti of Egypt, stressed that the youth’s ignorance of Islamic legal sciences and not receiving them from specialists is considered one of the most important reasons for joining terrorist organizations. During his meeting with John Casson, the British Ambassador to Cairo, Dr. Allam added, some youth take their information from the internet without consulting people of knowledge. This matter makes them fall preys to ignorance because of the wrong interpretations of texts and exegesis.

The Grand Mufti further elucidated by adding, as a result of this confusion, Dar al- Iftaa’s call to renewing the religious discourse both domestically and internationally matches with that of the Egyptian President.

John Casson, the British Ambassador, praised the efforts of Dar al-Iftaa in renewing the religious discourse and correcting the image of Islam domestically and internationally. He further observes precisely these efforts whether through periodical articles, delegations dispatched by Dar al- Iftaa internationally for correcting the image of Islam or through the publications of Dar al- Iftaa which refutes the ideologies adopted by the extremist groups.
At the end, the British Ambassador invited the Grand Mufti to visit Britain in order to clarify the true teachings of Islam and its major concepts and to promote tolerant Islamic principles which call for harmony and coexistence. He further stressed the necessity of encouraging cooperation between all parties in confronting destructive methodologies.
