Burying the dead in separate coffins in the same pit

Burials in Australia involve putting the deceased in a casket and placing it in a 6 or 7 m deep pit. Subsequent interments are made atop the previous caskets which are then separated by a layer of earth.
The question is: Is this method of burial compatible with Islamic law? We would like to know the ruling so that we could notify [authorities] of the burial method that complies with Islamic law. Please note that there is no need for interring the dead in the same plot as there is no shortage of land.

Can the dead hear us?

Assalamu Alaikum Dear Honourable Scholar

Quran says dead cannot hear in the Chapter of Fatir verse 22 and also in the Chapter of al- Rum verse 52, so how a dead will hear in the grave when you call him with his name and remind him to say “There is no god but Allah”, as one of the fatwa "Prompting the dead " on this website makes it permissible to call the dead person in grave and prompt him. Can you please explain how as this seems to be a direct contradiction of Quran?

Who should pay funeral and burial expenses?

A man passed away and was survived by two wives and children from his first wife with no children from his second wife. After he died, Social Security issued a three month's pay in burial benefits in his second wife's name, totaling 5, 850 L.E (he was on pension). His second wife does not reside in the same place where he died and she did not share in any of the funeral expenses. As the children of the deceased covered all the costs of his funeral and burial, are they legally entitled to a share in this

Building a grave beneath a walkway

I would like the legal ruling on the following: We own a tomb which has become full and, as a result, would like to build a room beneath a path adjacent to the tomb with a 20 cm concrete ceiling. Please note that this room will be below ground level and people, other than us, will pass over it to bury their dead in nearby graves. Is it permissible to build such a room and to bury the previously interred bodies in it?

Please note that we cannot build a new grave on the existing field. If it is impermissible, what are we to do with the remains of the previously interred bodies?
