Permissibility of using donor sperm

My husband and I have been married for 3 years and have no children. When we found out that my husband was infertile, we tried new medical approaches such as IVF that failed. We were then advised to use donor sperm which we think is impermissible in Islamic law.

My husband is honest and kind but he is not punctual in praying and he needs to get closer to God, I am helping him with this. Should I accept his option of divorce and seek another marriage (to be a mother), wait and be patient and just keep on praying, or accept God's will? Would it be impermissible to use donor sperm?

If the woman discovered Down’s syndrome in her fetus, can she terminate her pregnancy?

I am a Muslim midwife in the US. I am doing research on Islamic bioethics and I need your help in this research. We must offer certain genetic tests to each woman during her pregnancy. Usually these test for Down’s syndrome and spina bifida, neither of which is a lethal condition. More rarely they may identify conditions that are not compatible with life. There is no prenatal treatment for any of these conditions, except that experimental fetal surgeries may be done very rarely for spina bifida. This may allow the mother to know if her child will be born healthy or not; and it often leads women to choose abortion.

My questions are: what is your opinion about the permissibility of abortion in the first 120 days if a woman wishes to terminate a pregnancy for Down’s syndrome or spina bifida? What is your advice to women as to whether they should accept these tests?

In your answer, please provide as much evidence as possible to explain your reasoning to help me in my research.

Can I donate all my body organs after my death to help curing sick people?

A Muslim woman living in a non-Muslim country wants to donate all her body organs through a "will" to be carried out after her passing away (cornea, heart, liver ...etc..whatever applicable for transplant ) to relieve the sufferings of sick living human fellows.

- some organs can ONLY be taken for transplant after "brain-stem death" , other organs are not.
- Are both cases permissible from Muslim’s point of view ?
- Should she die in that foreign country, so her organs will go in most cases
to non-Muslim citizens, is this permissible ?
Thanks

Is it allowed to drink a beer which contains very low percentage of alcohol which can never lead to drunkness?

Assalamu Alaykum,
Where we live in Europe, there is non alcoholic beer but it contains a very low percentage of alcohol (less than 0, 05 percent). This percentage of alcohol present can never make you drunk no matter how much you drink.
Is this type of beer allowed or not?
Please take note that we do not have 100 percent alcohol free beer in our market.

I had anxiety and the doctor advised me to masturbate to relive stress. Is it permissible?

I wanted to ask about masturbation and whether is prohibited or not, I used to think it is prohibited but did it sometimes, I had anxiety & depression and went to a psychiatrist and during my healing process he said that it's perfectly normal and it has been proved healthy and said I needed to do it to let off some of the tension. I am a lot better now and I consider myself healed but I need to know since during Ramadan I didn't do it once.
Kindly advise me with proofs from Quran or Hadith
P.S. the doctor is a Muslim and I do consider him of good knowledge (he graduated from Azhar)

My daughter is lesbian. Will God forgive her?

salamuaalaikum,
I have questions about my daughter, age 26, lives in the USA & claims to be lesbian since 7 yrs ago. We're Egyptian practicing Muslims & live in the USA. She prays, fasts, pays zakat, and possesses very good moral conduct EXCEPT this lifestyle. She's convinced that Allah SWT created her this way because she was NEVER attracted to men nor she will ever be. She is attracted to girls/women only not necessarily for sex but it's the emotional attraction. She thinks that Allah will forgive her because those feelings are not within her control. For years she tried to get help via psychotherapy but it has not worked. When she told me about this several years ago, I prayed for Allah to help her. I performed Hajj last year & sincerely & wholeheartedly prayed that Allah help her & cure this disease & guide her in the right path.
Is it possible for Allah to have mercy & forgive her if she continues this lifestyle? In the Quran, Allah mentions Lut but spoke of men not women.

A method for slaughtering poultry that protects from Avian flu

I work at the National Laboratory for Quality Control of Poultry Products at the Ministry of Agriculture, the body responsible for diagnosing and conducting researches on avian flu, a serious disease that causes huge economic losses and human deaths. We ask Allah Almighty that it will not become a global pandemic.

Scientific researches proved that humans can become infected with the disease when exposed to large doses of the virus, especially when slaughtering infected birds; this being the reason behind the death of the cases that have been registered in Egypt. With the participation of foreign researchers, we made several attempts to arrive at an easy method of slaughter, sparing rural women expensive or complicated procedures and simultaneously, decreasing the amount of virus shed by an infected bird during slaughtering.

Our experiments led us to a method of slaughter that involves putting the bird in a regular plastic bag, the kind which is found in every home, and let its neck and head hang out without suffocating it or restricting its movement and then slaughtering it with a knife. Through observation, it became obvious that this method significantly reduces the amount of dust carrying the bird's blood and excrement. The results encouraged the research team to contact an international laboratory located in the United States, considered a reference on avian flu, to perform further experiments to accurately measure the concentration of the virus in the air and study the efficiency of implementing methods for decreasing exposure to the virus during slaughtering. The foreign researchers asked for a fatwa concerning the lawful method of slaughter according to Islamic law which they can implement during their tests in the United States. If the results are positive, we will publish them in scientific references, specialized international conferences and instructional periodicals on rural education.
