Some people in the USA teach that it is permissible for women to wipe over socks that are made of thin material, during ablution/wudu. Is this permissible according to any of the four schools of Fiqh (Maliki, Shafa3i, Hanafi, Hanbali)?

If we can pat shoes /socks with wet hands provided we wear them when on ablution, is it possible? We do the same with sleeves and undershirts if it is not possible to roll them up ?
